The inscriptions are of Ephebic catalogues with numerous names of Messene youth. The Palestra is a composed of a central courtyard surrounded by Doric stoas and auxiliary rooms. Connected to the Gymnasium, the Palestra was used by Ephebes (young men in military training) and athletes.
