Villa Giulia. Rome. Italy. View of a side wall of the interior courtyard which is decorated with granite columns. The Villa Giulia was commissioned by Pope Julius III in 1550–1555 to be used as his leisure residence. Important architects of the time worked on the build, including, Ammanati, Vasari and Vignola, the Popes favourite architect. Michelangelo was also consulted for advice. It is now the location of the Museo Nazionale Etrusco (National Etruscan Museum).
