Rome. Italy. A corridor in the Roman dwelling beneath the church. Santa Cecilia in Trastevere was built in the 5h century, according to legend over the house of Saint Cecilia and her husband St. Valerian. Cecilia suffered martyrdom under Emperor Marcus Aurelius (reigned 161-180). In the 9th century Pope Paschal I completely renovated the building, added the Apse mosaics and had the body of the Saint Cecilia and her husband moved there from the Catacombe di San Callisto.
