Rome. Italy. View of the high altar and oval shaped interior of the Chiesa di Sant'Andrea al Quirinale, located on Quirinal Hill. The altarpiece painting depicts the Martyrdom of St Andrew and was painted in 1668 by Guillaume Courtois, a French painter known as “Il Borgognone”. Considered a jewel of Baroque art, the church (St Andrew's at the Quirinal) was commissioned by Pope Alexander VII and Cardinal Camillo Pamphilj and designed by the great Gian Lorenzo Bernini in the 16th century.
