Aventino. Rome. Italy. View of the entrance to the courtyard and the Basilica Church of SS. Santi Bonifacio e Alessio (St.Alexis) on Aventine Hill in Rome. The church was originally built in the 5th century and was dedicated to Saint Boniface. In 1247 it was also dedicated to Saint Alexius. Over time the building was renewed and its current appearance owes itself to a large restoration in the 18th century. The Romanesque bell tower dates from 1217.
