Ostia Antica. Lazio. Italy. View from the atrium of the house of Cupid and Psyche, dating from the 4th century AD and one of the most elegant homes in Ostia. The atrium has rooms opening off to the left and one directly in front. To the right of the atrium behind the granite columns is the garden and nymphaeum. The nymphaeum lower part consists of five semicircular niches. The upper part has five semicircular and rectangular niches, between which are marble columns. Between the bases of the columns are small marble steps, over which the water flowed. Water also emerged from holes in the front of the lower part, between the niches.
