Perge. Antalya. Turkey. View along East West Street of the façade wall with several windows of the palaestra. Dating from the 1st century BC, the large unexcavated palaestra was an open courtyard surrounded by porticoes and used for excising and athletic practices. The well preserved ancient city of Perge was founded by colonists originating from the Peloponnese in Greece.
