The 2019 Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show was held in the magnificent heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building and the sprawling Carlton Gardens over five days in late March.
In its 24th year the garden and floral event is the Southern Hemisphere’s largest and features the best landscape and floral talent from Australia and around the world alongside and an extensive array of garden retail products.
I attended the event on a glorious sunny Autumn day along with many thousands of hobby and backyard gardeners, green thumbs and ordinary folk seeking inspiration, innovation and stimulation.
I walked around for at least 3 hours and there was certainly no shortage of options what to see and do such the show gardens, art and floral exhibitions and industry experts were on hand to offer specialist advice and conduct workshops.
However, for me, the many species of wonderful plants and their burst and maze of colour and life they provide have always been the highlight of the show. The positive of attending a show such as this is that it should spark your desire to get your hands dirty and appreciate and connect with nature.
